In celebration of cSPACE’s newly opened community artist hub, installations from all fourteen participating artists will fill the expansive hallways of cSPACE King Edward. Through a significant selection of large installations and 2D work, handpicked artists including Terrance Houle, Heather Benning, Chris Cran, Lyndal Osborne, and Mitch Kern present their unique interpretations of an art genre and culture steeped in romanticism and tradition.
I AM WESTERN seeks to continue the celebration of the West while being inclusive to a changing demographic, landscape, economy and culture.

In addition to the cSPACE King Edward exhibition, artworks by Terrance Houle, Heather Benning, Billie Rae Busby, Tim Moore, Pascale Ouellet, Rosanna Marmont and Kris Weinmann will be shown at the unique Yuill gallery of the former Medalta Pottery Factory.
Feature Artist: Terrance Houle
Performances and ceremonies by renown contemporary artist Terrance Houle in the abandoned IXL brick factory (dates tba) will be captured by film maker Alex Moon and screened throughout exhibition. The factory, closed from the 2010 flooding of the South Saskatchewan River, was likely a site where his ancestors from the Blood Tribe would have formerly camped and hunted. 'If These Bricks Could Talk' and 'Ghost Days' will address the consequences of colonialism and include a metaphorical re-appropriation of land by crushing and returning bricks into the ground.
